BBVA assists NAFIN in its successful issuance of MXN 12,237 million in sustainable bonds

BBVA acted as underwriter in a successful issuance of Securities-backed development bank certificates (CEBURES) by Nacional Financiera, S.N.C. (NAFIN), a key transaction in boosting access to financing for strategic sectors of the Mexican economy.

The issuance reached a total amount of 12,237 million pesos, and the initial price of the fixed tranche was reduced by nine basis points due to strong investor demand. The deal was structured into two tranches:

  • NAFR 25X – MXN 6,090 million pesos, at a term of 1,260 days (approx. 3.5 years), floating rate pegged to the TIIE Funding Rate and a spread of 25 basis points, in line with the initial price.

  • NAFF 25X – MXN 6,147 million pesos, at a term of 3,822 days (approx. 10.5 years), fixed rate set as a spread over the MBono 34-36 and a spread of 31 basis points, nine points below the initial price.

The issue obtained the highest ratings on the local scale: AAA(mex) from Fitch Mexico and HR AAA by HR Ratings Mexico. Furthermore, because they are Securities-backed Development Bank Certificates, the issue has the backing of the Federal Government, guaranteeing its solidity and attractiveness to investors.

The funds raised in this issue will strengthen financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as for strategic projects that promote economic growth and financial inclusion in Mexico.

This transaction is aligned with NAFIN's Sustainable Bond Framework and the Sustainable Bond Principles of ICMA (International Capital Market Association), the global body that sets international standards for the issuance of green, social and sustainable bonds.

As one of the Joint Lead Managers, BBVA played a key role in the structuring and placement of this issue, reaffirming its leadership in investment banking and sustainable debt markets.

With this transaction, BBVA reinforces its commitment to the promotion of innovative financial structures for projects that have a positive social and environmental impact.

We congratulate Nacional Financiera (NAFIN) on the success of this issue and thank them for their trust in BBVA.
