BBVA supports the local infrastructure market with the successful placement of Energy and Infrastructure Investment Trust Certificates for FIBRAeMX
In keeping with its commitment to support the development of strategic infrastructure in Mexico, BBVA acted as placement agent in the first follow-on placement of Certificados Bursátiles Fiduciarios de Inversión en Energía e Infraestructura (CBFEs) by FIBRAeMX. The issue totaled of 3,902 million pesos and was taken up by both institutional and individual investors.
The proceeds of this deal will allow FIBRAeMX to complete the acquisition of a 29% stake in Grupo Autopistas Nacionales, S.A. de C.V. (GANA), holder of the concession of the Amozoc-Perote toll road. As part of this transaction, FIBRAeMX will acquire an 18.18% stake from Aleatica and a 10.82% stake from Invex Infraestructura. The Amozoc-Perote highway is one of the main roads connecting the center of the country with the Gulf of Mexico, which makes it a strategic corridor for national transportation.
FIBRAeMX is an investment vehicle specialized in transportation assets, such as highways, ports, airports and mass transit systems. To date, committed capital amounts to MXN11.86 billion, including the acquisition of the Amozoc-Perote highway, which will be completed once final approvals are obtained from the corresponding authorities. With this, FIBRAeMX will hold a stake in eight highway concessions that together total more than 1,100 kilometers of highways traveled daily by more than 50,000 vehicles.
BBVA is grateful for FIBRAeMX's confidence in selecting it as the placement agent in this strategic transaction and ratifies its commitment to continuing to support the development of transportation and infrastructure in this country. This deal reaffirms BBVA’s leadership in the capital markets and its ability to offer innovative financial solutions that drive the growth of large corporations and investors in Mexico.
