BBVA advises Sogrape on the acquisition of Bodega Viña Mayor from Entrecanales Domecq e Hijos

The acquisition strengthens Sogrape's position as a key player in the Iberian and global wine market, after a non-stop period of 15 years of growth in Spain, always receiving the advice from the hand of BBVA CIB's teams.

BBVA CIB has acted as exclusive financial advisor to Sogrape, the largest wine group in the Iberian Peninsula, during the acquisition of Bodega Viña Mayor from Entrecanales Domecq e Hijos. The transaction, which represents a significant milestone in the sector, reflects the confidence in BBVA CIB's experience and knowledge in this market. 

Moreover, Sogrape reaches a historic milestone in its corporate expansion plans with this acquisition. After 15 years of growth, it has become the largest international group of still (non-sparkling) wines in the Iberian Peninsula. Thanks to the expert advice of BBVA CIB throughout this period of growth, Sogrape has managed to acquire prestigious wineries and brands in the four main Designations of Origin in Spain, such as Bodegas Lan (D.O. Rioja) and Santiago Ruiz (D.O. Rías Baixas) from Mercapital, the acquisition of Aura (D.O. Rueda) from Pernod Ricard and, finally, the acquisition of Bodega Viña Mayor (D.O. Ribera del Duero).
