BBVA CIB bolsters New York securitization hub with new hires, expanding product depth and client coverage
Following the launch of its Securitization and Warehouse Lending Hub in September 2024, BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking (BBVA CIB) continues to build momentum in the U.S. structured finance market. As part of this ongoing growth, the firm has recently expanded its team with new senior hires that enhance its origination and risk management capabilities.
The expansión of the Securitization and Warehouse Lending hub marks the next step in BBVA CIB’s strategy in the US market and broadens its offering of capital-efficient financing solutions. With a growing client base and increased activity across sectors, the expansion of the team reflects the bank’s long-term commitment to structured finance as a core component of its global platform.
Reinforcing a high-performing team
Led by Richard Burke, Global Head of Securitization, the New York-based team is entering a new stage of expansion. Since joining BBVA in 2024, Burke has overseen the development of the global platform and positioned the firm as a trusted partner in the asset-backed markets.
To support this growth, BBVA CIB has added two seasoned professionals:
- Charles Schiller, Executive Director of Credit Risk Management, joins from Mizuho Americas, bringing expertise in structured finance risk evaluation and credit assessment. He will be responsible for developing BBVA’s Securitization Risk Management practice.
- Jaykumar Shiyani, Associate in the Securitization Origination team, comes from KBRA, contributing specialized knowledge in securitization analytics and product execution. At BBVA he will support the team’s securitization origination and execution activities across asset classes.
“We’re proud to continue strengthening our securitization franchise,” said Regina Gil Hernández, Head of BBVA CIB USA. “With deep structuring and risk expertise, our team is uniquely positioned to support clients with tailored financing strategies across complex asset classes.”
Delivering structured finance solutions for evolving client needs
Since its inception, the hub has focused on delivering capital-efficient solutions for institutional clients, sponsors, and corporates. The expanded team will continue developing BBVA’s structured credit capabilities in sectors such as data infrastructure, private credit, and sponsor-backed transactions—key pillars of the bank’s long-term innovation and sustainability strategy.
With teams based in New York and Madrid, BBVA CIB’s securitization practice is aligned with the bank’s global mission: providing intelligent financing solutions that help clients manage risk, optimize their balance sheets, and access diversified capital sources.
