BBVA CIB Expands Structured Solutions Business with Key Hire in New York
BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) continues its strategic expansion in the U.S. with the appointment of Svetlana Nagirner as Managing Director, Head of Balance Sheet Solutions Sales US, based in New York. This hire strengthens BBVA’s growing presence in the structured credit space, following the recent creation of a specialized team in New York dedicated to offering tailored financing solutions to institutional investors.
Nagirner brings close to 20 years of experience in structured credit, most recently serving as Head of Credit and Structured Financing Solutions for North America at Barclays. In her new role at BBVA, she will lead a newly established team based in the New York office, focused specifically on serving institutional clients in the United States. This team complements the work of teams in Madrid, Mexico City, and London, as well as the existing U.S.-based team that already provides structured solutions to Latin American clients.
“We are thrilled to have Svetlana on board as we expand our product offering in the U.S.,” said Regina Gil Hernández, Head of BBVA CIB USA. “Her extensive experience in structured credit will be crucial as we continue to enhance our dialogue with institutional investors, offering them more sophisticated tools for balance sheet optimization and portfolio management. This appointment, alongside the creation of our specialized team for Structured Solutions, reflects BBVA’s commitment to anticipating client needs and deepening relationships.”
The set-up of the specialized team in New York highlights BBVA CIB USA’s ongoing efforts to broaden its service offering for institutional clients. This team will focus on developing and delivering customized financing and credit solutions tailored to the unique needs of U.S. investors.
Carlos Gil, Global Head of Balance Sheet Solutions, commented: “By building out a specialized team in New York, we are enhancing our ability to deliver sophisticated products that address the evolving demands of our institutional clients. Svetlana’s leadership will play a pivotal role in this effort, allowing us to provide more value through highly customized credit solutions.”
This initiative follows BBVA’s broader strategy of establishing specialized groups across key markets to better serve its global client base. The aim is to deliver more relevant and impactful solutions to institutional investors, focusing on structured credit, securitized products, and balance sheet solutions.
As BBVA CIB USA continues to invest in talent and expand its product capabilities, the bank is solidifying its role as a trusted partner for U.S. institutional investors, offering a comprehensive range of solutions designed to optimize capital and enhance portfolio performance.
