BBVA opens a securitization hub in New York to expand its offering for global clients

BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking (BBVA CIB) in the United States strengthens its wide range of services by offering global capabilities to corporate and institutional clients with the creation of a specialized group focused on securitization solutions and warehouse lending. This initiative addresses the growing demand for structured finance from global corporations seeking to optimize their capital efficiently.

BBVA’s investment banking division in the United States is expanding its product offering capabilities with the aim of enriching its dialogue with clients and better anticipating their needs. In this regard, securitization is a key product that U.S. corporations use as part of their financing toolkit and also has a strong connection to institutional clients.

Securitization provides corporations with key tools to improve their balance sheet efficiency, while institutional investors can diversify their portfolios with high-quality assets.

Richard Burke has joined BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking in the United States as Head of the Securitization business and will lead this specialized group, initially based in New York and Madrid, which will offer services to clients globally. He brings valuable expertise in the creation and management of complex solutions for institutional clients.

Previously, Burke was Co-Head of the Securitization unit for the Americas at Mizuho CIB, where he led the origination, execution, and transaction management for ABS, securitization, and lease finance products. Richard also headed the asset-backed finance origination unit at HSBC Americas.

Initially, BBVA will begin this activity by offering warehouse lending lines to corporate clients and, over time, will also develop capabilities for ABS structuring and placements. This type of operation is closely coordinated with key BBVA CIB units such as Investment Banking & Finance, Global Transaction Banking, and Global Markets.

Regina Gil Hernández, Head of BBVA CIB in the United States, explains: “Our clients are requesting BBVA to offer this product because it is a key instrument for financing their operations more efficiently. This new offering will not only strengthen our current relationships but also position us as long-term strategic partners for our clients in the United States.”

“We are also seeing growing demand from Financial Sponsors in this area, driven by high Capex demand for data centers and project financing of portfolios. Our objective is to initially offer financing and structuring capabilities, followed by placement capabilities in the next phase,” continues Regina Gil.

With this new hub, BBVA reinforces its commitment to providing solutions to its global clients, adapting to an ever-evolving financial environment, as Javier Rodríguez Soler, Head of Sustainability & CIB at BBVA, points out: "At BBVA, we are committed to continuously evolving our product offerings to meet the growing and diverse needs of our clients. This new securitization hub is a strategic step in enhancing our global capabilities, allowing us to support our corporate and institutional clients with solutions that improve their financial efficiency. By combining our expertise in structured finance with new capabilities, we are not only reinforcing our position in the U.S. market but also addressing key trends like sustainability and long-term value creation for our clients."
